About the role

  • Revenue Manager optimizing B2B advertising revenues for a leading media company in Berlin. Engaging in pricing strategies and revenue management in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Revenue and price management: develop and manage pricing strategies for print and digital advertising
  • Analysis of market prices, competitive landscape and demand trends
  • Identification of revenue potentials and margin levers
  • Gross-to-net optimization: continuous analysis of gross vs. net revenues and derivation of concrete optimization measures
  • Reduction of discounts, special conditions and free add-ons
  • Monitoring of key KPIs (discount rate, net revenue per customer/product, contribution margins)
  • Discount and terms management: definition of clear discount guardrails and standard terms
  • Building and maintaining a transparent discount matrix
  • Ensuring compliance by the sales organization
  • Approval processes: establishment of a structured approval process for special discounts and individual deals
  • Evaluation of deviations with regard to profitability and strategic relevance
  • Documentation and reporting of all approvals
  • Sales support & management: close collaboration with ad sales (B2B) as a strategic sparring partner
  • Providing pricing rationales and profitability calculations
  • Training sales on pricing logic, discount rules and revenue targets
  • Reporting & analysis: regular revenue, discount and margin reports for management and sales
  • Forecasts and scenario analyses
  • Deriving concrete recommendations for action

Requirements

  • University degree in Business Administration, Media Management or a comparable qualification
  • Several years of professional experience in revenue management, pricing or advertising sales – ideally in the media industry
  • Strong numerical aptitude and excellent analytical skills
  • Experience with pricing strategies, discount structures and margin control
  • Confident use of Excel/BI tools, ideally with experience in ERP/CRM systems
  • Assertiveness and persuasiveness in dealings with sales and management
  • Structured, process-oriented working style
  • Strong communication skills, particularly in conveying complex pricing logic
  • Entrepreneurial thinking and result orientation
  • Ability to manage conflicts between revenue pressure and margin targets constructively
