About the role

  • Participate as part of various teams within Black & McDonald’s Facility Services business with a primary focus on Facilities Management nationally
  • Lead or support review, assessment and advisement on pursuits, bids and opportunities, including RFx and contractual document analysis from commercial and operational perspectives
  • Lead or support estimating activities for pursuits, bids and opportunities, developing service delivery models, staffing, and subcontractor plans
  • Provide operational support by advising bid teams and FM Operations on risk, strategy, and solution development
  • Design commercial service delivery models: contract structure, staffing plans, scheduling, subcontracting strategies
  • Lead contract pricing estimation and financial modeling for labour, materials, and overhead costs
  • Conduct contractual review, identify and mitigate commercial risks, and recommend negotiation strategies; partner with legal counsel
  • Collaborate with Proposal Managers to align commercial and technical solutions and contribute to final proposal content
  • Support negotiations, clarifications, BAFO processes, client engagement, and presentations
  • Maintain understanding of union agreements, compliance requirements, industry regulations, and market trends
  • Champion continuous improvement of the commercial bid process and facilitate cross-functional stakeholder alignment
  • Participate in pursuit process activities: site visits, bid reviews, bid/no-bid discussions, proponent meetings, presentations, and debriefs
  • Report to the Senior Commercial Manager and contribute to growth of the Facility Services business nationally

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field (Master’s degree is an asset)
  • FM designations preferred but not required (e.g., FMA (BOMA), FMP (IFMA), C.E.T.)
  • 7+ years of experience in a commercial, operations, or business development role (facilities management, property management, engineering, construction, or similar)
  • Proven success developing service delivery models and pricing strategies for complex service contracts
  • Solid background in commercial contract structures, risk assessment, and negotiation strategies
  • Good understanding of facilities management services including hard services, soft services, and specialized support services
  • Familiarity with union labour agreements, compliance standards, and regulatory frameworks
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, including strong Excel knowledge
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work cross-functionally
  • Proactive, driven, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
