Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive generalist human resources support across onboarding and offboarding, group benefits administration, payroll coordination, professional development, employee relations, separations and policy development
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR systems, ensuring data integrity and compliance with privacy requirements
  • Support the development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of HR procedures and policies, providing guidance and interpretation to management and employees for business operations
  • Assist in the development of HR metrics, dashboards and standard reports, including ad hoc analyses to support workforce planning, decision-making, and regulatory reporting
  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee and applicant inquiries, responding to routine matters and escalating complex or sensitive issues to the Manager HR as required
  • Coordinate payroll, benefits, compensation, and employee performance programs, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
  • Participate in and support employee relations activities, including investigations, disciplinary meetings, performance management discussions, terminations, and documentation
  • Manage and administer temporary layoffs and recall to work processes during seasonal workforce fluctuations, ensuring compliance and clear communication
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with local, provincial, and federal employment legislation, including but not limited to the Employment Standards Act, Ministry of Labour requirements, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and the Ontario Human Rights Code
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by recommending and implementing process enhancements, automation, policies, and best practices to improve HR efficiency, effectiveness, and employee experience.

Requirements

  • College Diploma or University Degree specializing in Human Resources, Business or related field
  • 5 (five) – 7 (seven) years of experience in human resources, or 3 (three) –4 (four) years in an HR Generalist role
  • CHRP designation (or working towards) is an asset
  • A valid G driver’s license, access to a vehicle and the ability to travel to various office locations
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations at provincial and federal levels
  • Applies sound judgment and discretion, consulting with employees or management as needed to navigate complex matters
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, with strong organizational skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Strong time management skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams
  • Experience using HRIS platforms and time & attendance systems (or comparable tools) is highly desirable.
