About the role

  • Sales Manager responsible for driving sales of construction materials for Aecon, a leader in infrastructure development in Canada. Developing targeted sales strategies and managing customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate the value of Aecon’s products and services to customers.
  • Develop and execute a targeted sales plan within the marketplace and identify the key decision makers for customer base.
  • Service current accounts and acquire new business by calling and visiting customers to understand needs.
  • Bid on incoming tendered projects and search out new project opportunities to achieve sales objectives.
  • Generate time sensitive sales quotes for customers, negotiate and close out project opportunities.
  • Coordinate the daily dispatch and delivery of aggregate and asphalt materials to schedule customer orders.
  • Regular follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction with quality and service levels.
  • Establish and maintain strong business relationships with customers and industry partners.
  • Support the credit department in collection of accounts receivable.
  • Monitor market conditions, industry trends and competitor activities.
  • Perform and manage the sales administrative function including periodic performance reporting.
  • Attend and represent the company at industry events.
  • Regular automobile travel to meet with customers on site.
  • Ensure that Aecon’s corporate health and safety program is adhered to.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by his/her Supervisor.

Requirements

  • CET, Business Degree or equivalent training and experience.
  • 5+ years in a sales or marketing position preferably in a construction materials environment (Aggregates, Asphalt, Ready Mix).
  • Construction market and industry knowledge an asset.
  • Strong computer skills – proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills – oral and written.
  • Self-directed and initiative-taking with good organizational skills.
  • Adaptable to work a flexible work schedule when required.
  • Ability to work with others as a team.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
