About the role
- Junior Lawyer supporting the drafting and review of energy purchase contracts, contributing to negotiations and legal compliance in Brazil's energy market.
Responsibilities
- Support the drafting and review of electricity purchase and sale contracts and their respective addenda, notices and other related documents, ensuring compliance with applicable legal and regulatory guidelines;
- Assist in contractual negotiations with clients and commercial partners, under the guidance of the legal team and management;
- Monitor and review financial guarantees linked to contracts (promissory notes, bank guarantees, surety bonds, guarantee insurance, among others);
- Research regulatory changes in the power sector when requested, especially on topics related to energy commercialization, the free market and market liberalization;
- Provide legal support to internal areas involved in operations (Trading, Customer Service, Collections, Back Office...), contributing to risk analysis and the development of safe, efficient solutions;
- Organize and consolidate reports and contract/negotiation controls and other activities under your responsibility, presenting them to area management;
- Attend internal and external meetings, contributing legal analyses and information;
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of contract templates and internal processes.
Requirements
- Law degree (completed) with active registration with the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB);
- Familiarity with financial guarantees applicable to commercial contracts;
- Strong legal analysis skills and ability to interpret regulations;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel;
- Postgraduate studies (in progress or completed) in Energy Law, Corporate Law or related fields;
- Experience with energy traders/retailers, power generators or consultancies in the electricity sector;
- Prior experience or internships in contract law and energy law will be considered a plus;
- Basic knowledge of the power sector and the free energy market (ACL) is desirable;
- Litigation experience will be considered an advantage.
