About the role

  • Associate General Counsel advising on corporate trust transactions in capital markets. Supporting Wilmington Trust’s institutional client legal needs from New York, Buffalo, or Wilmington.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of complex or specialized legal activities
  • Provide legal advice to ensure compliance with laws and regulations
  • Make recommendations to senior management on legal issues
  • Review and approve legal contracts and documents
  • Partner with Compliance, Risk and Audit groups
  • Develop and implement streamlined legal support policies
  • Prepare or review complex materials for external counsel
  • Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience as an attorney or other relevant legal experience
  • Minimum of 5 years' work leadership experience
  • New York State or applicable state bar admission
  • Capital Markets subject matter expertise
  • Experience advising on capital markets transactions
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work
  • Strong desire to support the identification, evaluation and escalation of legal risk issues
  • Strong communication skills to deal with internal and external constituencies
