About the role

  • Employee Relations Lead overseeing complex employee relations matters across EMEA and advising APJ leaders. Managing sensitive cases and ensuring compliance with local laws while collaborating with HR and legal teams.

Responsibilities

  • Independently lead and own end-to-end employee relations matters across EMEA, including complex investigations, grievances, performance management, conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and involuntary terminations.
  • Serve as a hands-on ER subject matter expert for EMEA, directly managing high-risk and high-complexity cases across multiple countries and jurisdictions.
  • Provide strategic, advisory ER support across APJ, partnering with HR People Partners and local stakeholders to guide decision-making, assess risk, and ensure alignment with local laws and company standards.
  • Advise managers and HR partners on sensitive ER issues, tailoring guidance to regional legal, cultural, and business considerations.
  • Partner with managers and employees to facilitate effective outcomes related to performance coaching, performance improvement plans, written warnings, disciplinary actions, and employee communications, primarily within EMEA.
  • Execute job eliminations, restructures, and involuntary exits in EMEA related to organizational changes, ensuring compliance with local employment laws and consultation requirements; provide advisory support for similar activities in APJ.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, HR Business Partners, Payroll, IT, and other stakeholders to resolve ER matters and sustain positive employee relations across both regions.
  • Prepare and maintain thorough ER case documentation, including investigation reports, executive summaries, timelines, and recommended outcomes, with deeper case ownership in EMEA.
  • Analyze ER trends across EMEA and APJ on a monthly and quarterly basis to identify risk areas and inform proactive strategies, policies, and training initiatives.
  • Maintain deep, current knowledge of company HR policies and employment and labor laws across EMEA, with working knowledge across APJ.
  • Support labor relations matters where applicable, including engagement with works councils and employee representative bodies, primarily within EMEA, in partnership with Legal and HR.
  • Advise and train managers and HR partners on employee relations best practices, risk mitigation, and compliant decision-making.
  • Contribute to ER projects and initiatives supporting regional growth, transformation, and scale.
  • Stay current on external ER best practices, regulatory developments, and emerging risks impacting EMEA and APJ.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or relevant certification preferred.
  • 8–12+ years of progressive, hands-on experience in employee relations, employment law, or a related HR discipline.
  • Strong, practical understanding of employment and labor laws across EMEA (required), with advisory exposure across APJ (preferred).
  • Proven experience independently managing complex ER cases across multiple EMEA countries and jurisdictions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in workplace investigations, conflict resolution, and sensitive employee matters.
  • Experience using ER case management systems with accountability for detailed, well-documented investigations.
  • High level of judgment, discretion, and professionalism when navigating complex and ambiguous situations.
  • Experience analyzing ER metrics and trends to inform proactive strategies and recommendations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and advise senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • Desirable / Nice to Have Experience with labor relations, including works councils and employee representative bodies, particularly within EMEA.
  • Exposure to collective consultation processes, restructures, or workforce change initiatives in regulated environments.
  • Experience partnering with APJ stakeholders in an advisory or regional support capacity.
