About the role

  • Director of Fleet and Facilities overseeing operational oversight for fleet and facilities at Summit Utilities, a growing natural gas utility company.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the company’s fleet and facilities portfolio.
  • Drive corporate strategies for both fleet life cycle management and facilities operations.
  • Manage budgets and vendor relationships.
  • Maintain strict adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate closely with Procurement, Operations, and Field Services teams.
  • Leverage technology and optimization tools to enhance tracking, reporting, and operational efficiency across both domains.
  • Ensure vehicles, equipment, and facilities meet the highest standards of safety, compliance, and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience leading a fleet & facilities function and managing team members.
  • Prior experience developing budgets; P&L review a plus.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • SAP experience is strongly recommended.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with experience communicating at all levels of an organization and with outside vendors.
  • Strong people-related, customer service focus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products especially Word and Excel.
  • Excellent negotiation skills for facility and/or property purchase/lease projects.
  • Excellent negotiation skills for fleet and equipment purchases.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to quickly react, analyze and solve problems.
  • Attention to detail while maintaining a vision for the “big picture.”
  • Ability to learn and utilize various software and word processing programs.
  • Ability to understand and communicate company policies and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand, communicate, and negotiate legal documents required for real estate transactions.
  • Vehicle mechanical aptitude.
  • Facility systems mechanical aptitude.
