About the role

  • Business Development Manager responsible for growth initiatives at BAT in Montreal. Leading strategic opportunities and collaborating with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate growth opportunities across key business categories and products
  • Develop and refine strategic hypotheses, challenging assumptions to support high-quality decision-making
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Finance teams to build business cases supporting commercial decisions (market sizing, financial modeling, strategic fit)
  • Advocate for opportunities internally and secure buy-in from cross-functional teams (Marketing, Finance, Legal, Regulatory, Operations)
  • Drive execution and coordinate the integration of new product introductions (NPI) originating from the Business Development function
  • Understand, define, and monitor the evolving competitive landscape, startups, and emerging trends
  • Coordinate alignment of cross-functional stakeholders and manage interdependencies across workstreams
  • Prepare and manage materials for steering committees and executive team updates

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field
  • More than 5 years of experience in a global fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment or a similar fast-paced operational setting
  • Experience in business development, strategy, consulting, or commercial roles (experience in mergers & acquisitions or corporate development is a plus but not required)
  • Experience in strategic analysis, execution, performance tracking, project evaluation, and strong commercial acumen
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivated and able to influence effectively
  • Ability to simplify complex situations, synthesize and present complex information
  • Demonstrated proficiency with AI tools (e.g., language models — LLMs) to accelerate research and analysis
  • Fluency in English; French is an asset.
