About the role

  • Director of Development directing and coordinating fundraising efforts to support the school/college and institutional priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and cultivates sources of funding
  • Leads the solicitation of major gifts for defined school and institutional priorities
  • Manages a portfolio of high potential prospects and collaborates with the institutional advancement team to coordinate cultivation and solicitation strategies to close gifts
  • Leads the strategic development of relationships with donors and prospects
  • Collaborates with the Dean, Associate Deans, Department Chairs, Program Directors, faculty and staff to prepare and submit private funding proposals
  • Responsible for donor stewardship plans for assigned prospects
  • Establishes and maintains strong and effective relationships
  • Plans and implements short, medium, and long-range fund raising programs to meet current and future needs
  • Provides supervision and management of department employees
  • Measures and assesses performance for employees and contributes to decisions regarding assignments, schedules and promotions

Requirements

  • Experienced fundraiser with strong knowledge of institutional advancement and development
  • Ability to make persuasive presentations to the community and close major and planned gifts
  • Demonstrated leadership in raising major gifts to advance strategic organizational goals in a University environment
  • Experience utilizing Raiser’s Edge constituency database software
  • Ability to travel as required to maintain relationships with donors and to cultivate prospects
  • Excellent writing and communication skills with the ability to write complex documents in a prescribed format including proposals and grants, also correspondence and letters
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) required.
