About the role
- Senior Business Analyst bridging business strategy and technology at the Insurance Council. Focusing on understanding business challenges and translating them into actionable solutions.
Responsibilities
- Partner with business leaders and stakeholders to understand strategic priorities, operational challenges, and regulatory requirements
- Analyze complex business problems and identify practical, value-driven solutions aligned with organizational objectives
- Define future-state business processes, capabilities, and operating models
- Translate business needs into clear, structured requirements (e.g., business requirements, functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria)
- Ensure proposed solutions are feasible, scalable, and aligned with business priorities and constraints
- Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams
- Translate business concepts, policies, and processes into technical items that development teams can understand and implement
- Work collaboratively with architects, developers, and vendors to ensure business intent is accurately reflected in technical designs
- Facilitate workshops, interviews, and working sessions to elicit requirements and validate solutions
- Challenge assumptions and help stakeholders clarify what problem they are truly trying to solve
- Provide clear, concise recommendations to senior leaders, supported by analysis and business rationale
- Manage stakeholder expectations by balancing business needs, timelines, risks, and delivery capacity
- Ensure requirements are traceable to business outcomes and strategic objectives
- Support business case development, cost-benefit analysis, and impact assessments
- Validate delivered solutions against business requirements and expected outcomes
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, simplification, and efficiency
Requirements
- 7+ years of progressive experience in business analysis, solution design, or business consulting roles
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Public Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- IIBA CBAP certification an asset
- Proven experience translating complex business problems into structured, actionable requirements
- Strong understanding of business operations, process design, and organizational change
- Exceptional ability to understand and articulate business needs, risks, and opportunities
- Ability to design solutions that balance business value, practicality, and sustainability
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to influence without authority and build strong relationships across business and technology teams
- Skilled facilitator of discussions involving diverse perspectives and competing priorities
