About the role

  • Crisis Care Training Facilitator delivering crisis care education to contracted service providers. Facilitating training, developing curriculum, and engaging community partners in BC.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver crisis care education to contracted service providers, including intensive provincial training curriculum for Crisis Response, Community Led (CRCL).
  • Facilitate CRCL training to all CRCL agencies in BC.
  • Facilitate other crisis care workshops and training, as needed.
  • Conduct needs-based assessments and create and deliver on a multi-year training plan.
  • Develop and maintain a provincial standard for crisis care training.
  • Assist in the creation of intensive crisis care specific curriculum course content and materials.
  • Participate in committees and working groups.
  • Report and provide recommendations to CMHA BC senior leadership, community agencies and partners on training and training content.
  • Develop project reports, briefing notes, and status updates.
  • Ensure proper use of mechanisms that evaluate and track effectiveness of training courses.
  • Engage with community and provincial partners to support training needs of crisis care services.
  • Participate in crisis care strategic planning, policy and program evaluation, and issues management.
  • Liaise with crisis care service providers to assess training needs and gaps.
  • Consult with new CRCL communities around specific training needs.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree, preferably related to mental health and substance use, social work, child and youth care or a similarly relevant discipline.
  • A minimum 2-3 years' experience in facilitation and/or public speaking.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years' experience in curriculum development and delivery.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years' experience in the mental health and substance use service sector.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience with project management or components of project.
  • Frontline experience with suicide prevention and crisis intervention work is an asset.
  • Lived experience navigating the mental health system through self or loved ones may be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of mental health, substance use, harm reduction, and crisis care systems in BC.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort and experience with public speaking and group facilitation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse communities and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and agility to use Office 365 tools and cloud-based management software tools.
  • Knowledge of reconciliation, decolonization, and equity principles as they relate to health.
  • Knowledge of harm reduction approaches to address substance use issues.
  • Strong project management, time management and organization skills, demonstrating the capacity to juggle multiple demands with varying deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse communities and partners.
  • Ability and confidence to work in a self-directed manner and collaboratively with multi-stakeholder teams in a fast-paced environment.
