About the role

  • Provide administrative and program support to Project Directors, Principal Investigators, and project staff within the Yang-Tan Institute (YTI)
  • Manage day-to-day operations and coordination for externally funded projects
  • Provide program coordination support for disability-related projects
  • Schedule and organize meetings, events, webinars, focus groups, and interviews
  • Take, edit, and distribute meeting notes, including documenting action items
  • Proofread, copy edit, and format written materials
  • Create accessible materials ensuring presentations and documents comply with Section 508 standards
  • Prepare and distribute surveys
  • Provide customer service support for webinars
  • Maintain project timelines and track deliverables
  • Assist in the preparation of grant proposals
  • Perform general administrative and fiscal duties
  • Ensure smooth communication and organization across team members and stakeholders
  • Contribute to the effective implementation and success of YTI’s research and outreach initiatives

Requirements

  • Resume and cover letter are required for further consideration
  • Associate’s degree and two to four years of experience in an office setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook calendar
  • Experience using online meeting platforms such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams
  • Ability to work independently with sound judgment and discretion
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully with diverse groups of individuals
  • Initiative and a proactive team-oriented approach
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proofreading, editing, and minute-taking
  • Strong customer service skills and a positive attitude
  • Ability to oversee and prioritize multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Prior experience with meeting and event planning
  • General knowledge of database operations

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
  • Preferred: Five or more years of office experience, preferably in a research-based setting
  • Preferred: Working knowledge of document and internet accessibility standards
  • Preferred: Experience creating accessible documents
  • Preferred: Experience editing and uploading manuscripts, reports, forms, charts, and other media to project websites
  • Preferred: Document layout and design experience, including applying templates, organizing page layouts, and selecting artwork
  • Preferred: Prior experience with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, HTML, or similar web development tools
  • Preferred: Experience using project planning and management software
  • Preferred: Experience with Qualtrics or similar survey platforms
  • Preferred: Skilled in proofreading and editing technical and scientific papers, particularly in the social sciences
  • Preferred: Experience supporting the grant submission and coordination process
  • Preferred: Experience providing customer service for webinars and using advanced collaboration features
  • Preferred: Knowledge of Cornell University fiscal policies and systems
  • Preferred: Familiarity with disability-related programs
