About the role

  • Identify, prospect, and secure new partners (ISOs, referral partners, PayFacs, payment orchestration providers) to deliver new merchant business.
  • Develop strong understanding of payabl.’s payment products and the payments ecosystem to position value to partners.
  • Lead sales pitches, structure and negotiate commercial agreements, and support onboarding of new partners.
  • Focus on scoping high-value, sustainable partnerships that deliver strong merchant pipelines.
  • Assess and evaluate prospective partners’ portfolios for merchant count, revenue potential, and business contribution.
  • Establish and nurture long-term relationships with decision-makers to maximise collaboration and market penetration.
  • Work cross-functionally with sales, product, and operations teams to ensure a seamless partner journey.
  • Represent payabl. at industry events and conferences to build networks and uncover opportunities.
  • Meet and exceed sales targets, generating sustainable opportunities to achieve company and personal goals.
  • Role focused on hunting and acquiring new partners (not managing integrations).

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of B2B sales experience, ideally within payments, fintech, or financial services.
  • Proven experience in acquiring new partners with a strong understanding of acquiring and the payment ecosystem.
  • Established network within the UK payments and merchant ecosystem.
  • Strong track record of exceeding revenue and sales targets.
  • Skilled in structuring deals, leading commercial negotiations, and closing high-value partnerships.
  • Ability to evaluate partner portfolios including number of merchants and revenue potential.
  • Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organisational and pipeline management skills; ability to manage multiple opportunities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; confidence presenting at senior levels.
  • Willingness to travel frequently for client meetings, industry events, and business development.
  • Hunter mentality; proactive and results-oriented.
