About the role

  • Director of Social leading social media strategies at Front Office Sports. Overseeing content creation and expanding engagement on social channels.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the creation, programming, and community management of content produced by the social team
  • Work hand in hand with the VP of Multimedia to execute the agreed-upon cross-platform content strategies
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with the commercial and marketing teams on evergreen storytelling that is commercially viable
  • Work hand in hand with editors inside the newsroom on formatting, distributing, and promoting all types of news-driven content including scoops and exclusives emanating from the newsroom
  • Ideate, create, and post engaging social content (text, graphic, video, etc) across all channels
  • Create and oversee a shift schedule that ensures full news cycle coverage throughout the day and night
  • Maintain a thorough and organized content calendar for use by the internal team
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and constructive performance feedback to social team members to drive individual and team success
  • Lead strategy and execution to expand reach and engagement across priority social platforms
  • Own the planning and delivery of sponsored and branded campaigns, collaborating cross-functionally to meet editorial and partner goals

Requirements

  • 8+ years of digital/social content experience
  • Previous experience managing teams and accounts in a high-growth environment, preferably with a digitally native media and news company
  • A self-starter capable of taking initiative and leading a team
  • An audience-led strategist, using data to develop best practices
  • Ability to balance short-term deliverables with long-term projects in concurrent workstreams
  • Proficient understanding of how to build and engage audiences on various social channels
  • Keen understanding of the business of sports, what moves our audience, and what we can build to drive deeper engagement and better monetization
  • Video, photo, and graphic design experience is required
  • Paid media experience is preferred
  • Vast knowledge of the teams, athletes, and biggest names in the sports industry
  • Ability to work around the biggest events and moments in sports
  • Takes feedback to execute changes and make improvements
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills
  • Handles pressure effectively and exhibits a flexible, positive attitude
  • Background or experience working for a media/news company is preferred
  • Able and willing to travel, in addition to working non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
  • Passion and desire to make, break, and cover news, turning the business of sports into entertainment
