About the role

  • Under the direction of the area presidency, manage all Correlation policies, processes, and procedures established by the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve to protect the Church.
  • Perform a regulatory Correlation oversight role related to product planning/budgeting, IP, data privacy, visual identity, doctrinal accuracy, and research for all area employees and volunteers involved with publishing and messaging.
  • Help the area presidency make strategic decisions about published products, including supervising the opt-in annual planning and budgeting process with all area staff.
  • Supervise all product planning, doctrinal review, intellectual property (including visual identity and data privacy) review, and research activities in the area.
  • Manage the Area Materials Evaluation Committee who review content for doctrinal accuracy and ensure Doctrinal Evaluation Reviewers are called, set apart, and trained.
  • Authority to freeze the publishing budget and stop publishing work if it does not have a certified product plan or align with approved Church policy and procedures.
  • Manage all outside contractors and vendors performing research for the area and ensure local research contractors and vendors are properly hired and supervised.
  • Ensure area production work is done under certified product plans; that publishing projects define audiences, purposes, goals, and success measures; and that individual deliverables have Publishing Deliverable numbers.
  • Support the area presidency in responding to the annual product language survey and prioritize First Presidency/Twelve high-priority products for translation resources.
  • Ensure the Church’s research policy is followed, Correlation Research consultation is used as needed, research participants are approved in advance, and appropriate formative/summative research is conducted.
  • Ensure all intellectual property assets used are owned by the Church or permissions are obtained; report misuse/infringement; ensure area content identifies as coming from the Church per the Global Visual Style Guide.
  • Ensure no information is gathered or stored in violation of Church data privacy policies; report suspected/actual unauthorized access; submit individual data access/erasure requests to the Data Privacy Office; complete regular privacy-risk assessments for area systems.
  • Report directly to the area presidency for Correlation functions and represent the area presidency to area staff; the area DTA assists with administrative/operational needs.

  • Excellent understanding of Church doctrine
  • Strong executive presentation abilities
  • Ability to learn quickly and pay attention to detail
  • 10 or more years of experience in one or, preferably, more of the following fields: project management; supervision of staff/volunteers/contractors/vendors; strategic planning; product planning and budgeting; teaching Church doctrine; intellectual property; organizational branding; data privacy; research (strategic, formative, and/or summative)
  • Must be an endowed member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a current temple recommend.
