Responsibilities
Reporting to the Vice President, Healthcare Operations (VP HCO), the Executive Director, Healthcare Operations will play a critical role in enhancing and optimizing service delivery.
The Executive Director (ED) will work closely with the VP, HCO, on developing budgets and implementation of annual operating plans.
As a member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), the ED will lead teams across Ontario and support the implementation of national strategic priorities and initiatives.
Ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and evidence-informed services by applying clinical standards, supporting quality improvement initiatives, and addressing risks related to service delivery.
Lead and provide operational oversight for Ontario, adhering to VLRC’s operational standards of practice.
Provide strategic direction to Provincial Managers on business goals and priorities to ensure optimal deployment of resources, day-to-day operations, and service delivery.
Implement the VLRC national strategic plan within Ontario, translating organizational priorities into operational plans, performance targets, and measurable outcomes.
Champion change through effective communication and change management strategies.
Identify training and development needs or succession opportunities of provincial VLR staff and management.
Identify operational, financial, workforce, and reputational risks within the Ontario region and work with the VP, HCO and cross-functionally to develop mitigation strategies.
Review monthly and quarterly financial statements to account for budget deviations and prepare strategic action to address budget shortfalls or gaps in revenues, salaries, or operating expenses.
Lead, coach and develop a team of Regional Managers with a strong focus on client experience and organizational values; and provide strategies to drive both the work of healthcare operations and staff advancement.
Engage with ministry officials and health care leaders to communicate the organization’s priorities, achievements and sector needs.
Participate in collective bargaining on behalf of the Ontario region, with knowledge of collective agreements, grievance, and arbitration process.
Requirements
10+ years in senior level leadership experience, supported by relevant post-secondary education.
Sound knowledge of the not-for-profit and health services sectors.
Demonstrated leadership ability to build and empower high-performing teams aligned with organizational goals.
Proven commitment to client-centered service delivery, stakeholder engagement, and community partnerships.
Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and monitor effective services.
Strong relationship building, communication and negotiation skills.
Sound business acumen including budget, performance management, change management and strategic planning.
Demonstrated ability to resolve complex issues showing sound judgment and timely decision making.
