About the role

  • People Operations Manager overseeing HR processes and compliance in Detroit, Michigan. Leading HR operations, analytics and ensuring federal, state, and international compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily HR operations including employee data management (Employee Lilfe-Cycle), HRIS administration, payroll, and personnel file maintenance.
  • Lead process improvements to optimize HR workflows, documentation, and system efficiency.
  • Ensure accuracy and confidentiality of HR data across all systems and platforms.
  • Manage HR reporting, analytics, and metrics to provide actionable insights to HR and business leadership.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and international employment laws (European)and regulations.
  • Oversee policy development, implementation, and periodic review to ensure alignment with company values and legal standards.
  • Coordinate audits and reporting related to HR, payroll, and benefits compliance.
  • Manage the company’s immigration programs, including visa processing, work authorizations, and compliance with international employment regulations.
  • Serve as the system owner for the HRIS; ensure proper configuration, upgrades, and integrations with payroll, benefits, and performance systems.
  • Partner with IT and vendors to troubleshoot, test, and optimize HR system functionality.
  • Develop dashboards and analytics to support data-driven HR decision-making.
  • Manage HR service delivery, ensuring timely and accurate support for employees and managers.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners and Centers of Excellence (COEs) to ensure a seamless employee lifecycle (onboarding to offboarding).
  • Support the administration of benefits, payroll processing & leadership, and leave management.
  • Champion process excellence, automation, and a culture of continuous improvement within HR.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, and IT to align people operations with organizational goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in HR operations or systems management.
  • Experience managing HRIS platforms (e.g. Workday, UKG, ADP, SAP SuccessFactors, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of employment laws, compliance, and HR best practices.
  • Hands-on experience in managing payroll operations
  • Understanding of employment laws and compensation philosophy of Europe (Spain & Germany) and Mexico
