About the role

  • Project Director for transforming asset and energy management at Parks and Recreation. Leading major change initiatives and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Champion a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement in asset management transformation.
  • Prioritize and coordinate the completion of condition assessments for Parks and Recreation facilities.
  • Research industry standards and develop service standards.
  • Provide leadership in developing tools and a data-driven decision-making framework.
  • Ensure the divisional capital plan accurately reflects the costs for bringing facilities to a state of good repair.
  • Support the preparation of the capital budget and long-term capital plan.
  • Maintain a comprehensive asset inventory and lifecycle costing framework.
  • Prepare the annual capital budget submission and 10-year capital plan by validating asset data and refining cost estimates.
  • Lead the development of parks and recreation standards, design guidelines, and lists of approved suppliers and vendors.
  • Develop interim guidelines and procedures for maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with collective agreements, corporate policies, City by-laws, and applicable legislation.
  • Prepare reports and briefing materials for City executives and Committees of Council.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Engineering, Sustainability or a related field with relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience in leading municipal asset and/or energy management programs.
  • Extensive experience leading, coaching, and motivating staff through major change initiatives.
  • Extensive experience in enterprise work order management system, asset data management, risk management, and asset prioritization framework.
  • Extensive experience working with executives, internal clients sponsors and senior management teams.
  • Considerable experience in strategic planning and financial forecasting.
  • Highly effective presentation skills.
  • Superior analytical and well-developed human relations skills.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging City-wide strategic initiatives.
  • Familiarity with relevant employment legislation.
  • P.Eng., Asset Management Certification, Certified Energy Manager certification will be an asset.
  • Must possess and be able to maintain a valid Province of Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and the ability to obtain a City driver's permit.
