About the role

  • Senior Financial Accountant managing financial control and compliance within high-growth FinTech. Fostering teamwork and providing strategic financial insights to support growth.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Control & Governance
  • Maintain a robust financial control environment, ensuring integrity and accuracy of the core financial systems, data, processes and compliance framework.
  • Oversee key financial reporting data, processes and controls, ensuring timely completion, review, and resolution of discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal policies.
  • Lead preparation of statutory financial statements and support the external and internal audit process.
  • Identify, monitor and manage all group financial risks with appropriate assessment of risks, impact and mitigations
  • Support the Group Financial Controller for all company secretarial duties and responsibilities including reporting and legal compliance
  • Manage and continuously improve financial data, processes, controls, and documentation.
  • Financial Reporting
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including detailed variance analysis and insightful commentary to support decision-making.
  • Review and approve bank and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timely resolution of reconciling items.
  • Support the Group Financial Controller with board reporting, strategic analysis, and group consolidation requirements.
  • Assist with group and parent company reporting obligations as required.
  • Lead ERP ownership and finance transformation initiatives, taking full accountability for optimisation and development of the company’s ERP system (Light). Act as system owner and ensure the team operates as ERP super users.
  • Drive data and process automation, integration, and process redesign to increase scalability and enterprise value.
  • Redesign and continuously improve the month-end process, including task lists, schedules, controls, and reporting outputs.
  • Drive financial discipline through robust financial control and balance sheet optimisation, ensuring strong governance and disciplined working capital management.
  • Elevate the Financial Reporting function into a centre of excellence, leveraging advanced automation to deliver best-in-class internal and external reporting processes.
  • Tax & Compliance
  • Manage group tax compliance obligations including VAT/sales tax, corporation tax, R&D tax claims, PAYE, global tax compliance and reporting and other statutory filings. Lead key tax projects including transfer pricing.
  • Ensure all submissions and payments are accurate and made within required deadlines.
  • Act as a key contact for external advisors and tax specialists.
  • Finance Operations, Payroll and Insurance
  • Oversee purchase and sales ledger activities, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and strong controls.
  • Responsible for payroll management and reporting working with the Group Financial Controller
  • Responsible for management of group insurances and reporting working with the Group Financial Controller
  • Manage customer and supplier reconciliations.
  • Ensure internal and external queries are resolved promptly and professionally.
  • Improve data and processes through automation and system optimisation where possible.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Business Support
  • Provide financial insight and analysis to support strategic decision-making working closely with the FP&A and Treasury & FinOps teams.
  • Contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Support finance transformation initiatives and systems enhancements.
  • Identify & deliver opportunities to drive profitability, improve scalability and operational efficiency.
  • Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop Financial Accountant (TBC), fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Set clear objectives, review performance, and support development, training and career progression.
  • Promote collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the finance team.

Requirements

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and financial reporting experience.
  • Experience preparing statutory accounts and supporting audits.
  • Advanced financial data and system skills - ERP, Excel, PowerBi and other key reporting and analytical tools.
  • Strong reconciliation and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement capability.
  • Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong organisational skills.
  • Desirable:
  • Experience in a high-growth, technology, or FinTech environment.
  • International finance experience (US and European markets).
  • Experience with multi-currency operations.
  • Exposure to finance systems implementation or automation projects.
