About the role

  • Payroll Manager overseeing payroll operations for 26,000 employees at Nutrien. Leading in-country payroll teams and ensuring compliance with payroll regulations for high-quality service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a diverse team of in-country payroll professionals
  • Oversee efficient, compliant payroll operations while maintaining comprehensive process documentation
  • Approve payroll processing, resolving issues for on-time delivery
  • Align payroll operations with business strategy
  • Ensure adherence to U.S. and Canadian payroll, tax, and employment regulations
  • Oversee general ledger reconciliations and payroll internal and external audits
  • Lead year-end payroll activities, including statutory filings
  • Deliver high-quality service to employees and stakeholders
  • Build strong partnerships with U.S. and Canadian HR and business leaders
  • Drive and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of payroll experience with a current payroll certification
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll tax and wage and hour regulations; Canadian experience is an asset
  • Strong experience with large ERP payroll systems and reporting platforms
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office tools
  • Demonstrated leadership in coaching, developing, and retaining high-performing payroll teams
  • Proven ability to design, standardize, and optimize processes in complex, fast-paced, shared-services or global environments
  • Strong project, time, and stakeholder management capabilities
  • High level of professional integrity, discretion, and attention to detail.
  • Self-directed leader with the ability to work independently while driving alignment across functions.
