About the role

  • Assistant Attorney General representing state officials in civil litigation and appeals in Massachusetts. Handling constitutional law challenges and agency policy-related cases in state and federal courts.

Responsibilities

  • Represent state officials and agencies in appeals and litigation in state and federal courts regarding state statutes, regulations, policies, and agency adjudicatory decisions.

Requirements

  • Must be a member of the Massachusetts bar or have a pending application for admission.
  • Must be a member of the bar of the United States District Court for Massachusetts or be eligible for admission in short order.
  • At least three (3) to five (5) years of relevant legal experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with constitutional law, administrative law, civil and appellate procedure, and trial practice.
  • Effective legal writing skills and the ability to independently handle litigation in the trial and appellate courts.
  • Demonstrated interest in public service and working in a collaborative, public-law environment.
