Manager of HR Operations at Liberty Mutual Canada overseeing diverse HR operations and project management responsibilities. Leading a team and building systems for multi-jurisdictional HR functions.
Responsibilities
Be a working manager: split your time between hands‑on execution (owning complex or escalated cases, covering core operational tasks, particularly in Canada) and people leadership (coaching, allocating work, hiring and developing team members).
Stakeholder engagement: work effectively with employees, HR Business Partners, senior HR and business leaders, Finance, Legal, Global Mobility and external vendors; influence without authority and maintain strong, trusted relationships at all levels.
Build the team operating model: design roles, workflows, SLAs, knowledge base, handoffs and governance across Canada, LATAM and the USA; map and document processes and implement cross‑training and knowledge management.
Project and priorities management: lead regional projects (including vendor RFPs, HRIS/process improvements, system migration and payroll optimization), manage multiple concurrent priorities, establish project plans, own timelines and status reporting, and ensure disciplined execution to deliver results.
Day‑to‑day HR operations (you will perform and delegate): manage the full employee lifecycle from onboarding through exit—conduct background checks, prepare and process employment documentation, execute employment changes, manage disciplinary actions and terminations; answer and triage employee and HRBP queries; deliver first‑day inductions; conduct exit interviews and provide action‑oriented insights.
Leave, benefits and absence administration: manage maternity/paternity/parental/unpaid leave workflows, coordinate disability/accommodation cases, and ensure accurate benefit enrollments and deductions.
Data, systems and compliance: act as HRIS admin for regional modules you own—enter and maintain accurate employee data, run regular audits to ensure data quality, complete regulatory filings and compliance reporting, and keep policies updated and communicated to employees.
Oversee payroll operations: Oversee the company's payroll operations to ensure accurate and timely processing, compliance with regulations and policies, and effective coordination with payroll team and external providers.
Vendor and mobility coordination: manage relationships with background‑check, payroll and benefits providers; coordinate work permit/visa processes in partnership with Global Mobility.
Continuous improvement and reporting: define and measure operational KPIs and SLAs (e.g., payroll accuracy, time to resolve inquiries, onboarding completion), lead automation and process improvement initiatives, and deliver regular metrics and insight to HR leadership.
