Responsibilities
Preparation of surgical pathology specimens.
General maintenance of the surgical pathology preparatory area and keeping a well-maintained and clean area at all times.
Manages telephones for the receiving and grossing areas.
Computer specimen entry-edit, which will require the ability to concentrate in a busy area, and to comprehend and interpret medical information with utmost accuracy.
Computer functions related to patient entry, (registering patients in EPIC), Copath entry, researching on-site patient history, (clinical, radiology exams, and prior treatment), charging, correcting any incorrect information entered into the system.
Often communicating with outside facilities or offices to collect incomplete patient information or collect patient history.
Requirements
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Minimum Years of Experience: 1 Year of experience in a laboratory setting
Substitutable Education & Experience: 1 Year of experience can be substituted for an Associate's Degree or a Technical Certification in a health related field
Required Certifications/Licensure: None
Required Training: Basic computer knowledge to include Microsoft Office Suite; Interest and skills in biological sciences.
