Accountant for the State of Illinois examining and processing financial documents for accuracy. Maintaining account records and serving as lead worker within the department.
Responsibilities
Examine, review, and process commercial invoices and travel vouchers submitted by agency personnel for accuracy.
Maintain complex, complete set of account books for department obligation and expenditure reports.
Serve as a designated lead worker.
Prepare, review, post, and file Contract Obligation Documents (COD) through the Statewide Accounting Management System (SAMS).
Perform development, testing, and implementation of enhancements to existing and new systems.
Serve as the IDFPR Travel Coordinator.
Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, with courses in business administration and accounting or four years of technical accounting experience.
Qualifying state employees in the employee Upward Mobility Program may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this class.
Prefers Associate's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
Prefers at least two years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
Prefers at least one year of supervisory or lead worker experience, including oversight of staff or work assignment.
Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.
