About the role

  • Legal Counsel for Product Teams in Payment Technology at Global Payments. Advise on compliance, privacy laws, and product strategies in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Advise business teams regarding compliance with privacy and related laws
  • Advise on data protection terms in agreements
  • Advise on product strategy considering data protection laws
  • Advise sales and marketing teams on compliance implications of marketing initiatives
  • Work closely with Information Security, Data Governance, Risk, and Audit teams
  • Participate in the product lifecycle by assessing product features and designs
  • Drive the development of robust, scalable playbooks and self-service tools
  • Develop privacy notices and customer contract templates
  • Perform privacy impact assessments and contribute to maintenance of records

Requirements

  • J.D. degree or equivalent degree (such as a master in law) with strong academic performance
  • 3+ years experience practicing law
  • Licensed to practice law in the U.S.
  • Familiarity with major data privacy frameworks such as GDPR, GLBA, and CPRA
  • Experience partnering with product and engineering teams to identify and facilitate the satisfaction of legal requirements throughout the product lifecycle
  • Sufficient exposure to intellectual property matters
  • Experience drafting contract templates and negotiation playbooks for software or payment technology products
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent issue spotting skills
  • An optimistic, solutions-oriented mindset
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced environment
