About the role

Responsibilities

  • Support our research projects in the planning, development and implementation of systems — from concept to final prototype
  • Develop and implement computer vision algorithms for object detection and tracking based on optical data
  • Control-oriented tracking/pointing (servoing) of sensors based on object tracking, including deriving and implementing appropriate control loops
  • Integrate image processing and control engineering into a complex experimental setup and independently optimize the overall system
  • Plan and carry out experiments for the iterative improvement of the systems
  • Support scientific measurements and participate in multi-day measurement campaigns at home and abroad

Requirements

  • A successfully completed scientific university degree (Master) or, ideally, a doctoral degree in engineering, physics, or a comparable discipline, preferably with several years of professional experience
  • Solid expertise either in object detection and tracking based on optical sensor data or in the control actuation of mechanical tracking systems for object tracking
  • Practical experience in assembling, operating and optimizing optical or mechatronic systems
  • Enthusiasm for creative, interdisciplinary solutions — working independently as well as in a team
  • Interest in new technologies and willingness to independently learn and explore new topics
  • Very good German (B2/C1 level) and ideally very good English (at least B2) spoken and written
  • Willingness to contribute to projects that provide benefits to the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr)
