About the role

  • Data Partnerships role managing data ecosystem at Clay and driving strategic partnerships with data vendors. Collaborating cross-functionally to shape data presentation and improve data quality.

Responsibilities

  • Own and expand Clay’s data ecosystem
  • Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with top-tier data providers around the world, expanding Clay’s coverage across industries, use cases, and markets.
  • Build a long-term roadmap of which data partners we need to unlock new verticals, new markets, and new product capabilities.
  • Drive high-impact commercial and strategic partnerships
  • Lead negotiations covering licensing, usage rights, pricing, data quality terms, and partnership structure.
  • Manage ongoing relationships with our 150+ existing partners, ensuring Clay remains a top strategic channel for their growth.
  • Shape how data shows up in Clay
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to influence how data is presented, routed, and recommended to customers.
  • Help develop a system where customers get clarity on which data vendor performs best for each task, industry, or geography.
  • Build the Clay Partner Flywheel
  • Create mechanisms for our data vendors to gain value from Clay — marketing opportunities, visibility, usage analytics, and quality feedback loops.
  • Help partners improve their data sets using insights from Clay usage, customer behaviors, and performance results.
  • Drive operational excellence and cross-functional collaboration
  • Work with leadership, finance, legal, and growth teams to align partnerships with product strategy, compliance standards, and Clay’s long-term cost structure.
  • Develop internal processes to manage partner performance, evaluate data quality, and measure ROI on each partnership.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in data partnerships, business development, strategic finance, analytics, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of data ecosystems — APIs, enrichment providers, licensing structures, data quality frameworks, and usage rights.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate complex commercial agreements and build strong relationships with external partners.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work seamlessly across Product, Engineering, Legal, Finance, GTM, and Leadership.
  • Sharp analytical skills, comfort working with data, and the ability to translate insights into strategy and action.
  • A proactive, resourceful, fast-moving mindset — you thrive in a dynamic environment with many moving pieces and large surface area.
