Responsibilities
Responsible for creating and driving the strategic direction and operations of the enterprise-wide payroll function for the organization
Acts as a key partner and strategic advisor in delivery of our total rewards vision
Leads functional areas including payroll operations, payroll /time and attendance systems, payroll tax, payroll project management, mergers & acquisitions, reporting & analytics, communications and compliance, audit & controls
Provides strategic direction and oversees the payroll, time and attendance, and payroll compliance operating models within the context of a rapidly growing healthcare organization
Builds partnerships and solicits feedback from internal and external business partners to define and develop successful, scalable processes and practices
Partners with executive leadership to ensure all programs support the organization’s strategic objectives
Leads the development and oversight of key project plans to increase automation, consistency, accuracy and integrity of payroll systems and operations
Maximizes the effectiveness of key technologies and supports processes to drive continuous improvement and change initiatives
Oversees the audit of the payroll team's activities and processes to ensure compliance with all system-wide policies, state-specific employment laws and requirements and applicable federal, state and local regulations
Drives operational excellence including, but not limited to, development of the appropriate internal controls and compliance programs
Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Business, or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
Typically requires 15 years of experience in Payroll leadership experience at large, complex organizations (employee population 75,000+)
Typically requires 5 years of management experience in building, leading and growing high performance payroll teams
Advanced knowledge of payroll operations, payroll tax processing procedures and reporting, and payroll accounting
Demonstrated experience with large scale, transformational change initiatives, including working across and with various operating areas and groups that are part of a large enterprise
