About the role

  • Senior Manager responsible for dock staff management and enhancing member experience. Leading operational efficiency and training at Freedom Boat Club in Connecticut.

Responsibilities

  • Provide final authority on staffing decisions; manage Club Managers and dock staff daily; conduct performance reviews for location-level managers.
  • Lead recruiting efforts, including resume review and interviews; partner with HR to onboard new staff and deliver initial and ongoing training.
  • Ensure all locations are appropriately staffed and partner with managers to build schedules that provide dock coverage.
  • Manage dock staff wage operating budget; review and approve payroll for accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure member satisfaction and retention; review Qualtrics feedback and implement corrective measures; handle member correspondence regarding incidents, billing, and feedback; develop and update local waterway guides.
  • Oversee all aspects of reservations, including modifications, same-day requests, weather notifications, fees, fuel charges, reminders, training vessels, and closure notices.
  • Manage the Training function including the Captain crew; own New Member Orientation scheduling and training coordination.
  • Evaluate and report member and staff KPIs; perform ad hoc analyses to support operational improvements.
  • Support Fleet Team in implementing safety and compliance measures across locations. Adhere to all safety procedures and act as a champion for safe practices.
  • Develop and maintain staff manuals; create and implement SOPs and improvement processes to ensure consistency.
  • Mentor Club Managers and dock staff; conduct regular location visits to assess staff performance, operational needs, and fleet conditions.
  • Maintain relationships with marina managers and landlords; collaborate with other FBC functional groups to advance organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Demonstrated ability to manage others
  • Thorough understanding of practices, theories, and policies involved in operations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and people skills
  • Must be a self-starter and capable of working unsupervised
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Pass a background/education check, and drug screen
  • Have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
