About the role

  • Payroll Specialist managing payroll processing across multiple entities at American Exchange Group. Ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal and state regulations in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly and/or semi-monthly payroll for multiple entities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Maintain payroll records, employee data, and ensure proper documentation for new hires, terminations, and status changes.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance to reconcile payroll, benefits, and deductions.
  • Manage multi-state payroll requirements, including tax filings, wage garnishments, and compliance with local labor laws.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, timekeeping, and deductions with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports for leadership and finance teams.
  • Partner with external vendors (e.g., BambooHR, Paychex, or other systems) to troubleshoot issues and improve payroll processes.
  • Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2s, audits, and reconciliations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of payroll processing experience, preferably in the fashion or wholesale industry.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Experience managing 401k and health benefits preferred.
  • Proficiency in payroll/HRIS systems (ADP, BambooHR, Paychex, or similar).
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
