Business Developer focusing on logistics opportunities for companies not transacting with APL Logistics. Responsible for lead generation and relationship management in North America market.
Responsibilities
Business Development activities including:
Developing a sales-call plan for named target accounts
Have sale call specific objectives
Conduct face-to-face and other communication protocol discussions with prospects at all levels in their organization
Following up on commitments and issues that arise during sales calls
Communicate customer and competitive developments that relate to assigned sales territory and the company
Manage CRM activities
Develop and close business with each customer assigned.
Support CRM activities including updating of calendars, opportunity pipeline, customer profile information, contact information and other tasks.
Lead business development effort:
Organizing cross functional resources needed
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by participating in local trade, professional and civic associations as a representative of the company; reviews professional publications’ establishes networks
Lead/Participate in the post sales implementation team
Meet/Exceed new business budget
Support all administrative activities including updates account profiles and target account programs.
Stay within travel and entertainment budget assigned
Requirements
Preferred Minimum 7 years of industry experience, and experience in professional selling capacity, with national account experience
Intimate knowledge of the US Intermodal network and service offerings
Proven customer service skills are required in order to create, maintain and enhance customer relationships
Must be able to communicate and interact effectively with multi-functional and diverse backgrounds
Working knowledge of PC-based applications and Electronic Information Systems
Exceptional negotiation skills, MS Office applications and general administrative functions

Candidates must be within 250 miles of an APL Logistics facility or office.
