Responsibilities
Partner with leadership, managers, and employees to foster a fair, equitable, and supportive work environment
Provide expert guidance on HR policies, employee relations, and labor relations matters
Recommend strategies and interventions to strengthen workplace culture and ensure compliance
Research and evaluate HR trends in specialty areas and educate HR colleagues
Collect and disseminate relevant HR resources and develop/support Duke-wide training and programming
Inform leadership on significant organizational issues, trends, and emerging concerns
Prepare reports, analyses, and written recommendations on progress and potential risks
Coordinate and implement HR programs that advance strategic goals
Identify employee-relations challenges and recommend appropriate interventions
Participate in interactive processes for reasonable accommodations and provide guidance on compliance
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Higher Education Administration, Human Resources, or related field
Master’s degree strongly preferred
Minimum of five years of HR management experience in a complex, multi-mission organization
Experience in health care and/or research environments preferred
Demonstrated leadership experience and deep knowledge of labor laws, collective bargaining, HR programs, and employee-relations practices
Ability to build partnerships and coalitions to achieve shared organizational goals
