About the role

  • Supports the day-to-day activities of a team of Post-Award Specialists and provides guidance to team members.
  • Monitors workload distribution and raises any concerns to the RAS director and coordinates with RAS Director regarding pre-award activities, issues resolution, and workload distribution.
  • Ensures strong levels of customer service to faculty and departments being served and coordinates inter-team meetings with Pre-Award team lead.
  • Manages post-award activities within a RAS unit for an assigned portfolio of grants and contracts, including review, reconciliation, and projection of award finances; preparing adjustments and corrections to award budgets; preparing financial reports; and closing out awards.
  • Defines account establishment parameters upon award acceptance, sets up award in financial system, distributes award information, coordinates payroll adjustments, reviews and reconciles award expenditures and budgets, projects and forecasts future award expenditures, manages budget, reporting and compliance timelines, completes financial reports to sponsor, monitors compliance, completes invoices to sponsor for certain awards, assists PIs with non-financial reports, coordinates No Cost Extensions, Carryover, rebudgeting requests, changes in scope, facilitates subcontractor invoice approvals, reviews effort reports, manages quarterly effort certification, applies federal and university rules to effort allocation, assists in transferring awards out of the university, and closes out funded projects.
  • Creates high-quality written reports and performs related responsibilities as required.
  • Reports directly to the Post-Award Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and five years of experience related to grants and contracts management OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Knowledge of federal rules and regulations/terms and conditions relating to research grant and/or contract activity.
  • Knowledge of the PeopleSoft Financial System preferred.
  • Experience at a large research institution with high volume and complex awards (preferred).
  • Experience with NIH post-award management duties (preferred).
  • Possess and demonstrate strong service orientation.
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • PeopleSoft experience strongly preferred.
  • A strong aptitude for and a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive and productive relationships with faculty, staff, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated flexibility, including a willingness and ability to respond to changing circumstances and expectations.
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills.
