Responsibilities
Independently develop book projects.
Acquire book projects and licenses and conduct contract negotiations as part of acquisition activities.
Independently collaborate with authors, scouts, publishers and agencies in the German- and English-speaking markets, and support the development and further growth of German-language authors.
Prepare jacket copy, promotional and sales texts, etc., and provide cover briefs.
Present titles you have acquired as part of programme presentations.
Develop initial ideas for the marketing of titles.
Review and edit manuscripts.
Monitor and analyse the market.
Requirements
Several years of professional experience as an editor in a trade publisher.
Proven expertise in commercial fiction and literary works.
Strategic understanding of current developments and trends in fiction.
Strong network within the international agents/rights-holder environment.
Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken; additional languages are an advantage.
Self-motivated, with the ability to perform intensive text work, creativity, strong communication skills, and planning and organisational capabilities.
Enjoys working as part of a team.
