About the role

  • Report to the Vice President, Corporate Controller and lead the revenue accounting function
  • Manage and grow a revenue team (Revenue Manager and Revenue Analysts) on-shore and off-shore, providing mentorship, feedback, and guidance
  • Lead revenue recognition, order management, billing, and collections ensuring compliance with ASC 606 and US GAAP
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue close processes and review journal entries and reconciliations as needed
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Sales, Product, Operations, Business Development, and Legal to ensure accuracy of master data and compliance of new arrangements
  • Assist with financial statement close processes and provide revenue inputs to FP&A for forecasting and GAAP adjustments
  • Lead continuous review and improvement of processes and controls around revenue streams, including automation of manual billing processes
  • Maintain a cross-functional cash collection forecast and provide insights to inform financial strategy
  • Prepare audit-ready memos for standard and non-standard contracts and revenue-related disclosures for MD&A in 10-K/10-Q
  • Participate in deal review for all revenue-generating agreements and serve as primary liaison with external auditors, internal audit, and executive stakeholders
  • Build new processes to scale the business and act as key point person for ERP (NetSuite) revenue module
  • Establish and monitor KPIs for the revenue cycle to identify trends, mitigate risks, and drive continuous improvement

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
  • Big 4 Accounting firm experience preferred
  • 10+ years of work experience, including in a public company environment leading a revenue team covering billing, collections, and cash forecasting
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with GAAP multi-element revenue recognition accounting standards including ASC 606
  • Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance
  • NetSuite and Salesforce experience preferred
  • Solutions-oriented team player and effective communicator with all levels of management and cross-functional organizations
  • Ability to have frequent interaction with customers on billing and collection and respond timely to customer inquiries
  • Must be already based in the Bay Area and able to be onsite 3x/week (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday)
