About the role

  • Payroll & Administration Manager driving end-to-end payroll operations across APAC for Wiley. Managing compliance and collaboration with stakeholders while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead timely, accurate payroll processing across APAC, including wage calculations, statutory deductions, taxes, and reconciliations
  • Serve as the primary liaison with country partner networks to resolve queries, align on calendars/cut-off, and uphold service standards across all APAC payrolls
  • Own Workday HR administration for payroll-linked actions (new hire, re-hire, leaver, compensation changes, time & absence, delegations, change requests)
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies; implement preventive controls and process improvements to enhance accuracy, speed, and colleague experience
  • Prepare, maintain, and protect payroll records; ensure compliance with applicable local regulations across APAC and company policies/standards
  • Lead, train, and guide payroll team members; foster collaboration and continuous improvement culture
  • Partner with stakeholders (PSC/People Technology/Finance) to streamline workflows, optimize Workday configurations, and support document generation and approvals
  • Manage specialist processes as needed (e.g., retiree payroll administration) and support audits/readiness activities

Requirements

  • 6+ years of payroll experience (APAC multi-country exposure preferred)
  • ~6+ years working in Workday HR systems across key functions (new hire, leaver, time, absence, compensation, payroll)
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with external payroll vendors/country partners
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management
  • Advanced problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Track record of process optimization and operational excellence
  • Hands-on expertise with ADP products (nice to have)
  • Solid understanding of APAC statutory payroll requirements
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to lead, coach, and influence in a matrixed, global environment
