Staff or Senior Staff Attorney for Workers’ Compensation handling complex cases and strategies. Working with a collaborative in-house legal team in an inclusive environment.
Responsibilities
Analyzing complex legal and factual issues.
Conducting extensive research and developing well-reasoned legal strategies.
Independently creating and presenting defense strategies on behalf of clients.
Preparing complex pleadings, written discovery, depositions, petitions for reconsideration, and trial briefs.
Collaborating with Claims Partners to achieve optimal outcomes for clients.
Providing timely and effective communication, legal advice, and support to clients.
Facilitating the prompt and efficient resolution of cases.
Independently preparing and presenting witnesses and evidence in trials, hearings, arbitrations, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
Researching, drafting, filing, and arguing appellate briefs.
Requirements
Minimum of 2 years of legal practice experience handling complex Workers’ Compensation cases.
JD from accredited law school and license to practice in the state of California
Trial experience is preferred.
Positive minded and collaborative team-player attitude.
Strong legal research and writing skills.
Solid MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook).
Lexis Nexis experience is a plus!
Self-directed with excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly leverage new software as required.
Minimum of 5 years of legal practice experience handling complex/life pension Workers’ Compensation cases (for Senior Staff Attorney only).
