About the role
- Transportation Operations Technician II responsible for various highway maintenance tasks in Vermont. Assisting with plowing, salting, and equipment maintenance during winter months.
Responsibilities
- This position is responsible for various tasks related to highway maintenance, such as repairing guardrails, cutting trees/brush, patching roads, picking litter, ditching, and more.
- In the winter months, this position will also assist with plowing and salting, and overtime may be required.
- Additionally, this position may assist in vehicle and equipment maintenance.
Requirements
- One (1) year of work experience in construction, equipment operation, or related manual labor INCLUDING EITHER one season of operating a snowplow with wings OR six (6) months of operating medium or heavy equipment, such as graders, excavators, and backhoes.
- Upon successful completion of original probation as a Transportation Operations Technician I AND possession of a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with tanker endorsement.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must complete all VTTC required coursework within one (1) year or be enrolled.
