About the role

  • Analyzing existing finance and accounting processes to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas ripe for automation and improvement;
  • Mapping current-state processes and designing optimized future-state workflows;
  • Developing and implementing automation solutions primarily using Google Sheets and Google Apps Script (GAS) to streamline data entry, reporting, reconciliation, and other repetitive tasks;
  • Utilizing SQL (and potentially Google BigQuery) to query, extract, transform, and load data from various sources, including our ERP system;
  • Integrate various data sources to create cohesive and automated financial reports and dashboards;
  • Serving as the primary technical resource for the Finance and Accounting teams;
  • Providing dedicated, patient, and hands-on support and training to accountants and finance staff who may be less familiar with new technologies and automated systems;
  • Developing clear documentation, training materials, and guides for all deployed solutions;
  • Working closely with IT and Finance to ensure seamless data flow and integration between Google Sheets, reporting tools, and the ERP system.

Requirements

  • Proven expert-level proficiency with Google Sheets (advanced formulas, pivot tables, data validation);
  • Strong working knowledge of Google Apps Script (GAS) for automating tasks within Google Workspace;
  • Solid experience with SQL for complex data querying, manipulation, and report generation;
  • Basic to intermediate understanding of accounting principles and finance processes (e.g., General Ledger, Accounts Payable/Receivable, month-end close);
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (knowledge of specific systems is a plus, but not required);
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users;
  • A patient, supportive, and service-oriented approach to user training and troubleshooting;
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
