About the role

  • Technical Analyst providing administrative and technical support for development projects in Peel Region. Responsible for managing project documentation, approvals, and communications with clients and inspectors.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Foreperson, the Technical Analyst will provide a high level of administrative and technical support to the team.
  • Responsible for facilitating connection file/development project support to Inspectors, Clients and other Regional Sections.
  • Tracking and maintaining securities for development projects, advising on reductions and releases at appropriate stages of the project.
  • Monitor construction maintenance periods and maintain records on status of development projects.
  • Search and retrieve information from internal systems (Hansen, Aqua Peel, CC&B, IPAL, EIM, Salesforce, FIA) and construction drawings, and relay findings to relevant parties.
  • Maintain and update tracking tools, including Excel spreadsheets, Salesforce, and FIA.
  • Copy, scan, file, and organize documents related to project and inspection records.
  • Coordinate the transfer of “As‑Constructed” and “Inspector’s Drawings” to GIS for records updates, and transfer completed project files to the Records Centre.
  • Correspond with inspectors, clients, consultants, municipalities, and Regional staff regarding information requests, project status, and required actions.
  • Investigate file information requests by gathering data from systems, drawings, and internal contacts.
  • Process preliminary and final inspection approvals, including preparing inspection packages, issuing approval or deficiency notices, and initiating maintenance periods.
  • Notify applicants at key project milestones, including preliminary/final approval, start and end of maintenance periods, and readiness for final inspection.
  • Prepare deficiency repair packages for Operations or contractors and follow up to ensure completion.
  • Issue final construction approval and coordinate security deposit refunds through Accounts Payable.
  • Coordinate inspections for watermains, valves, hydrants, hydrant valves, service boxes, manholes, and water chambers for new connections and development projects.
  • Coordinate final CCTV inspections for new subdivisions with the wastewater program planning group, review CCTV videos, and prepare deficiency or approval recommendation reports.
  • Send memos granting final sanitary construction acceptance.
  • Monitor and track development project status using internal systems.
  • Confirm subdivision status nearing the end of maintenance periods and notify developers or consultants of outstanding requirements.
  • Coordinate required approvals with local municipalities, consultants, and internal clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • College diploma in Civil Engineering with minimum 3 years of related experience or an approved equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Work involves performing varying tasks, requiring well-developed technical/professional skills typically acquired from a specialized college diploma such as Civil Engineering Technology Diploma or Degree and/or equivalent experience.
  • Confined Spaces Training, Working at Heights and NASSCO pipeline assessment Certificate considered an asset.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of Region of Peel Standards and Specification and how they are to be applied
  • Solid understanding and experience related to water, wastewater and transportation systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to manage conflict
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with MS applications and ability to work with specific applications such as Salesforce, Granite, Hansen, Aquapeel, CC&B, EIM, FIA and IPAL
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations. OHSA
  • A satisfactory Level 1 Criminal Record Check obtained directly from a police station (third-party background checks will not be accepted).
