About the role

  • Senior Events Manager coordinating with Sales and hotel departments for seamless event delivery. Focused on enhancing revenue and client satisfaction in the event management process.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare all event documentation and coordinates closely with Sales, hotel departments, and clients
  • Ensure consistent, high-level service throughout all Pre-Event, Event, and Post-Event phases
  • Serve as the primary on-property contact for planners after turnover
  • Identify revenue-enhancement opportunities through strategic up-selling and event upgrades
  • Support and may represent the Director of Event Management or Director of Event Planning & Operations in their absence
  • Build brand loyalty by living the JW Marriott Core Values
  • Coordinates and communicates verbally and in writing with customers regarding event details
  • Follows up with customers post-event
  • Acts as liaison between field sales person and customers throughout the event process
  • Oversees customer experiences from file turnover through the post-event phase
  • Leads pre-event and post-event meetings for assigned groups
  • Greets customers during the event phase and hands-off to the Event Operations team for execution of details
  • Sets a positive example for guest relations
  • Reviews comment cards and guest satisfaction results with associates

Requirements

  • Minimum-High School Diploma or GED
  • 5+ Years of Event Management Experience
  • Proven sales acumen with the ability to strategically up-sell products and services
  • Strong knowledge of menu planning, food presentation standards, and banquet/event service operations
  • Ability to effectively manage guest room blocks and meeting space inventories
  • Broad understanding of facility management, including sanitation, maintenance, and operational workflows
  • Exceptional customer relationship management and client development skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of hotel operations and their impact on event services
  • Familiarity with event technology products, services, and vendor coordination
  • Proficiency in contract management, including legal considerations and compliance
  • Strong financial management capabilities, including interpreting P&L statements, budgeting, forecasting, and labor scheduling
  • Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills
  • Advanced problem-solving abilities with a service-oriented mindset
  • Strong interpersonal skills for both customer and associate relations
  • Effective presentation and public-speaking skills
  • Highly organized with strong time-management and multi-tasking abilities
  • Proficient in standard office software and hotel operating systems
  • Strong decision-making and influencing skills
  • Knowledge of relevant governmental regulations and safety standards (OSHA, EPA, ADA, CFC, NFPA)
