Responsibilities
- Investigate incidents, evaluate liability, and scrutinize property damages
- Travel throughout service territory to attend small claims court hearings
- Represent the company in Small Claims hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations
- Conduct onsite investigations as needed
- Perform thorough investigation of incidents involving property damages
- Provide litigation support to attorneys
- Enter required damage-claim billing information into cross-functional systems
- Be on call for emergencies on a 24-hour basis
Requirements
- 4-5 plus years experience in utility operations or claims adjusting
- Familiarity with the civil justice system
- Knowledge of insurance (specifically casualty claims adjusting)
- High level of interpersonal skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to effectively interact with senior management and Union leadership
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in high-stress conditions
- Knowledge of tort and civil law
- Working knowledge of company’s operating tariffs, Washington State statutes, and administrative regulations
