About the role

  • Business Development Manager supporting a District Vice President at PenderFund Capital Management. Focusing on sales and relationship building in the financial services industry.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with and providing ongoing support to the District Vice President to execute an annual territory business plan focused on the development and strengthening of long‐term relationships with investment advisors within a defined territory.
  • Working with the District Vice President to increase sales and market share of Pender’s funds through engagement with prospects and existing supporters.
  • Conducting proactive outreach through sales calls, emails, and booking meetings with investment advisors and positioning Pender’s funds using a consultative sales approach to identify and advance sales opportunities.
  • Updating and logging daily activities and maintaining accurate records within Salesforce.com on a timely basis.
  • Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of Pender’s funds and industry trends in the market, and related considerations for advisors and their investors.
  • Occasionally joining the District Vice President to represent Pender at branch visits, client seminars, branch presentations, road shows and conferences.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance, or related field.
  • 1+ years of previous experience in the financial services, investment or related industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of the securities industry and particularly of stock and bond markets and how they relate to mutual funds.
  • Ability to initiate and maintain client relationships.
  • Superior customer service skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent interpersonal, judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Self-motivated; ability to be a great team player.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Completion of the Canadian Securities Course or willingness to complete within one year is an asset.
  • Working towards or completion of other industry certifications is considered an asset (i.e. IFIC, CFA, CFP, CIM, etc).
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce.com is a strong asset.
