About the role

  • Principal Regulatory and Rates Analyst at Summit Utilities developing revenue requirements and preparing regulatory filings. Working on rate changes, compliance, and major regulatory projects in the natural gas industry.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and prepares revenue requirements, cost of service studies and other rate and regulatory filings
  • Coordinates the implementation of rate changes and administration of existing rates and tariffs
  • Plans and prepares required regulatory reports, annual compliance filings, and related data responses
  • Leads and/or assists team members in analyzing rate change proposals
  • Maintains compliance with all applicable requirements concerning rates and costs
  • Prepares regulatory filings including testimony, schedules, and briefs on a timely basis
  • Gathers and analyzes financial information for development of regulatory strategies
  • Prepares major rate and regulatory projects
  • Monitors and communicates key developments in rate and regulatory matters
  • Represents Summit Utilities at public service commissions in regulatory dealings
  • Works closely with industry associations to coordinate responses to key issues
  • Establishes and maintains communications with various Summit Utilities departments
  • Attends workshops and conferences to monitor regulatory proceedings

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or finance/accounting; MBA desired
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in rate or regulatory matters
  • Minimum of five years’ experience with financial systems
  • Previous experience in the natural gas industry desirable
  • Solid background and knowledge of financial systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with outstanding Excel skills
  • Expert in analyzing data
  • Business and financial acumen
  • Excellent collaboration skills
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain high performance under pressure in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated desire to learn and assimilate data from multiple sources
  • Comfortable presenting to executive level internal and external audiences
  • Ability to quickly gain a fundamental understanding in the business workings of a natural gas utility
