About the role
- Strategy & Growth Intern supporting Substation Engineering at Pacific Gas & Electric Company. Work alongside experienced engineers ensuring excellent service and project delivery.
Responsibilities
- As a summer intern, you will be the vital link between the company and widespread interconnection of generation, increase in capacity demand (residential, commercial and industrial) and system reliability improvements in California.
- Your role will be to work alongside experienced engineers to ensure that the company provides excellent service for these projects.
- Actively promote safe practices and conduct in accordance with the Corporate Safety policy.
- Accomplish the department goal of zero injuries & avoidable auto incidents.
- Foster teamwork, innovation and embrace new approaches to accomplish our work more efficiently and effectively.
- Ensure delivery of high-quality design products on budget and on time.
- Support other team members in Transmission and Distribution Substation designs using Substation software for indoor equipment (SCADA, relays, meters, batteries, annunciators, metal clad switchgear, etc.) and outdoor equipment (open air bus structures, support structures, circuit breakers, transformers, disconnect switches, etc.).
- Work with and learn from other departments involved in Substations such as Maintenance, Construction, Asset Strategy, Distribution Planning, Standards, Protection, Automation, etc.
- Support other team members in creating/updating drawings like single line diagrams, AC & DC schematics, indoor & outdoor arrangements, control room layouts, station service, circuit & conduit schedules.
Requirements
- Earning a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering degree within two years of the start of the internship.
- Must have a valid driver’s license or obtain one at least 30 days prior to start date.
- Desired: EIT or FE certification
- 3.0 GPA or greater in both cumulative GPA and major GPA
- Engineering experience in utilities, municipalities, construction, or engineering consultation
- Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow team members
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction.
