Responsibilities

  • This strategic position is responsible for driving the HR agenda locally, ensuring alignment with the company's global objectives while tailoring priorities to meet market operations and cultural needs.
  • The HR Lead will play a pivotal role in fostering an engaging, inclusive, and high-performing work environment, enabling business success through effective people strategies.
  • Understanding the Business - Business Acumen: Deep understanding of the financial, organisational, and market goals, challenges & strategic landscape.
  • Speaks in business outcomes, not just people processes.
  • Operates with high autonomy to develop and own HR strategy; Aligns HR strategies with business objectives, shapes proactive workforce strategies.
  • Acts as a consultant to enable organisation, team and individual effectiveness to realise business objectives.
  • Architects inclusive, adaptive cultures where innovation thrives; consults on and designs effective engagement strategies.
  • Advocates for employees’ wellbeing, balancing their needs with business objectives.
  • Balances transparency and empathy; coaches leaders to ‘Be Real’, authentic & vulnerable.
  • Skilled in designing, managing and leading transformational change within the organisation.
  • Influences decision making, builds relationships, and operates across borders to guide leaders and support employees through transitions.
  • ‘Connects the dots’ through relationships and navigates the matrix to enable organisational harmony; Partners as One HR to optimise the HR ecosystem & advance overarching HR Programs.
  • Strategic Talent Management: Talent profiling/acquisition, career planning, growth (reskilling/upskilling), and retention.
  • Leads succession planning and implements talent programs to support business objectives; Coaches for Leadership effectiveness.
  • Creates internal talent marketplaces, enable gig/flex opportunities, and break down silos for career fluidity.
  • Leverages digital capabilities to enhance HR processes, create efficiencies, and drive results.
  • Skilled in collecting, analysing & interpreting data to forecast, and drive decisions; Uses metrics to track performance, engagement, retention and the impact of HR on business outcomes.
  • Unites technology & HR strategy to guide on AI implications for the future of work (organisation design, roles & capabilities, performance & effectiveness); leverages AI/tech for self, team and function benefit.
  • Expert in market legal & regulatory requirements, balances business needs and risk posture to influence decisions and ensure compliance; ensures HR policies and practices comply with Italian labour laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Navigate union/WC relations, to influence outcomes and business impacts while fostering a positive labour environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree or HR certifications (e.g., SHRM, CIPD) preferred.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive HR experience, within a matrixed HR model, including leadership roles in a pharmaceutical, life sciences, or healthcare company.
  • Deep understanding of Italian labor laws, employment practices, and cultural nuances.
  • Experience of leading or working directly with Union Representatives.
  • Familiarity with global HR practices and the ability to adapt them locally.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Collaborator and connector across the affiliate, above market and global teams – ability to operate effectively in a matrix organization to move priorities forward.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and HR analytics.
  • Fluent in Italian and English (both written and spoken).
