About the role

  • Senior Volume Recovery Manager managing anti-illicit trade strategies for BAT. Driving initiatives to protect market share, brand equity, and profitability in Vietnam.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive the Anti-Illicit Trade (AIT) strategy to minimize the impact of illicit trade on volume, market share, brand equity, and profitability.
  • Lead the implementation of AIT initiatives and report progress against agreed milestones to the Head of LEX (VLT).
  • Support above-market and regional AIT teams, including AIT Cambodia, through collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Represent BAT’s AIT position to key stakeholders, including government bodies and policy makers.
  • Support Marketing and Trade in marketing freedom activities while ensuring alignment with BAT policies and standards.
  • Manage and coordinate external service providers to ensure cost-effective and efficient AIT programme delivery.
  • Collaborate with industry players, associations, and anti-illicit trade groups to leverage best practices and insights.
  • Maintain and analyze AIT-related data to generate insights and recommendations for strategy enhancement.
  • Work closely with regional AIT managers and government agencies to support regulatory development and awareness initiatives.
  • Manage government and enforcement body relationships at central and local levels through proactive engagement.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the AIT team to deliver KPIs and support broader business objectives.
  • Build and sustain strong cross-functional relationships with key stakeholders such as LEX, Marketing, and Corporate Communications.
  • Engage with external organizations, NGOs, and industry bodies to promote BAT’s AIT positions.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior stakeholders to ensure visibility of performance, risks, and key developments.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in anti-illicit trade, regulatory affairs, government relations, or compliance.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage government officials, policy makers, and law enforcement in Vietnam.
  • Solid understanding of public policies, government processes, and law enforcement mechanisms in Vietnam.
  • Proven experience developing and executing strategies to address illicit trade, regulatory risks, or market protection initiatives.
  • Experience in taxation or dealing with legal/compliance matters is a plus.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and flexible, able to navigate complex situations, take ownership of initiatives, and work effectively with both internal teams and external boards or political stakeholders.
  • High judgment, discretion, trustworthiness, and openness to learning, with strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills in sensitive or politically complex environments.
