About the role

  • Assistant Director for Family Engagement develops strategies for family engagement at Miami University. Engaging families in their students' success through various programs and communications.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the initial point of contact for Miami parents and family members through phone, email, and social media communications.
  • Assist with orientation programs for more than 4,000 first-year students, 300 transfer students, and more than 5,000 family members.
  • Seek innovative and creative programming strategies to engage family members in the Miami community.
  • Foster partnerships with campus entities to support family members.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of print, electronic, and social media communications.
  • Coordinate referrals to manage and address questions and concerns from family members.
  • Teach section(s) of the one-credit University 101 courses for new first-year and/or transfer students to support student transition and engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, completed by the position start date.
  • 1 year of full-time professional experience in an education or leadership-related field; experience may be cumulative (e.g. 2 years of half-time graduate assistantship work)
