About the role

  • Coordinator for the IGF Mining Academy overseeing project delivery and academic engagement. Ensuring effective program implementation and managing stakeholder relationships in the mining education sector.

Responsibilities

  • Provide recommendations on the technical delivery and the development of the platform based on the needs of the project, liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide logistical support for the implementation of the Mining Academy, including scheduling the training agenda and coordinating internally and externally for the timely delivery of the training sessions.
  • Support engagement with academic partners in Canada and globally to support the development of the Mining Academy in all phases of its development (initial discussions, formal agreement, implementation, and coordination).
  • Support contractual development of the project (e.g., contracting consultants, developing MoUs/agreements with academic and research partners identified) and manage the completion of their deliverables.
  • Suggest any improvements or new development as may be required for the success of the Mining Academy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree in a related field (e.g., education, adult education, museum studies, mining or the extractives sector, project management).
  • 6+ years of experience in managing academic and research projects, curricula, and training programs in Canada or globally or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Experience providing leadership in program development and education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in academic partnerships (e.g., coordinating MoUs and agreements, international education, etc.).
  • Experience developing and implementing programs or curricula and implementing related training.
  • An understanding of the design or management of e-learning platforms, including navigation architecture, user experience (UX), and the integration of multimedia resources.
  • The ability to coordinate with IT teams, developers, communication teams, and/or vendors to implement new features or resolve issues.
  • Experience providing technical support or troubleshooting for learners and instructors using online platforms.
  • An understanding of accessibility and inclusive design to ensure the platform is usable by diverse audiences.
  • The ability to create user guides, tutorials, and onboarding materials for online tools.
  • An awareness of emerging technical trends (AI-driven tutoring, adaptive learning, mobile learning).
  • The ability to assess and adopt new technologies that can enhance IGF’s digital offer.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of various philosophies and methods of communication and education.
  • Proven ability to conceive and achieve programming objectives (e.g., learning objectives, visitor satisfaction targets, etc.).
  • The ability to manage various projects or programs simultaneously; strong organization and time management skills.
  • A high level of initiative and desire to identify the needs of targeted audiences to provide effective and relevant programming.
  • The ability to cooperate with internal and external parties to achieve an end result; strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to manage budgets and ensure the cost-effective use of resources.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strategic partnerships.
  • Cultural competency and sensitivity in engaging with diverse communities.
  • Sound command of French and/or Spanish (oral and written) is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with the mining or extractives sector would be a plus.
